Founded in 1998, in San Diego, Survivors of Violent Loss services in different forms exists in several different states. They offer assistance and support to families who have lost a loved one to a violent death and training for those who work with them. Most of us are members of the Violent Death Bereavement Society, created by Edward Rynearson, MD in Seattle. Under his leadership we have been trained in his model of Retorative Retelling. Our work incorporates many modalities to treat the needs of those who are traumatically grieved by understanding the unique needs of survivors of violent loss and those who work with them.
